Cleaned up and organized!

I was going to write a post yesterday of my 'Friday Five' that I wanted to accomplish this weekend. I've already started on what my list would have been so now I can't really share it :) Plus, it's not Friday anymore so it wouldn't be a good alliteration either! I got up this morning with the intent to clean my house. So far so good!

I've swept and mopped my little girl's room, living room; vaccumed the dining room (can't wait to get rid of the darn shag carpet!); and straightened up each of those rooms. Now, my next step is to clean up the kitchen, little man's room, the master bedroom, both bathrooms, and my sewing room. I'm determined my house will smell clean and fall-ish today :)

While surfing Pinterest the other day, I found these to help you get organized in every possible way!

There are all sorts of different kinds of planners that she has found and linked up. I printed one off about planning a new blog post each day. It definitely helped me stay a bit more on track... not completely since I have skipped days this week. But way better than I've done in awhile! I hope you find something that helps you too!

Look Ma, I'm Flying!!!

I know, it's not an original title. But it is so very fitting! I followed Flylady's advice yesterday and shined my sink, laid out my clothes, prepped my coffee for today, and was all packed up to go.

Yay for me for being proactive.... because I woke up an hour and a half late!!
But, because I was "flying" I was ready and out the door in record time. Whic was actually only 15 minutes behind my normal schedule. I had wanted to get up earlier because it's parent-teacher conference week and I had one bright and early this morning. But, I was still here and prepared for everything.

Yay for flying!!!

Ongoing project

So, my friend Amber over at Blissfully Making Home started talking the other day on her amazing new blog about how she shined her sink and started working with Flylady. Now, I had heard of Flylady before but had never investigated her page. I am here to tell you here and now, you need to go check it out if you have even the slightest little feeling of wanting to become better organized! She has a step-by-step process of how to become better organized...starting with your sink!

Crazy?

You bet but I promise it works :)

Check out her site and join me in this on-going project of mine.

It's beginning to look a lot like...school time!

As I have hinted at in the past, I am a teacher.
A third grader teacher to be exact.

I LOVE being a teacher. It's the best job in the world!

Well, at the end of every year we have to pack up our rooms so that the carpets can be cleaned. Everything will be dusted, wiped clean, and look beautiful for back to school. Once that happens, I get to go into my room and start organizing and rearranging for the new year.

I thought I'd show off my pretty, pretty room! I am really excited about this year and have a ton of great ideas for my students :)

This is my desk area with my behavior management system, teacher resource books, and filing system.
The view from the front of my room :)
This is where my students will turn in papers and get their supplies throughout the year.

Word wall and "Stuff" curtain where I hide all my extra ... well.. stuff :)

This is my computer area. It still needs a bit more work to look as organized as I'd like it to be.

This is my back table, back pack hooks, math boxes, and indoor/outdoor recess items.

My back carpet area is where we do most of our learning during workshop time.

This is part of my classroom library with one of my reading chairs.

This is the rest of my classroom library. Everything is labeled with what bin it goes in and what reading level the book is as well.

I hope you enjoyed your tour of my room! I'm really excited to start the year with a new bunch of kids!

What are you doing to get ready for the new year?

My very first tutorial!!

*drum roll please* Here it is, this is my very first tutorial!! The other day I got an urge to be organized this year....I absolutely loooove getting organized! This urge sent me to Target to get a small planner in order to keep up with my kiddos doctors appointments along with all the other very important dates for this year. However, when I got to the store they were incredibly picked over and the planners that they had left weren't very pretty. Alas, it didn't stop me!! I found the type of planner I wanted (a simple one with just the months) and headed home.

Now, to make it not just functional but pretty too!! Here's what you'll need:

Your (not-so-pretty) planner
Glue
Scissors
Scrapbooking paper
Ribbon, bows, pictures, etc.

This is my planner. It was rather plain looking with just the 4 pictures... I'm guessing they were supposed to be one picture for each season. Choose your scrapbooking paper that you want. I fiddled around with several sheets before I picked the one I wanted.

Once you picked your paper, turn it over so that the blank sheet (or opposite side if it's double sided) is facing you. Position your planner so that the paper touches the bottom and side of the front cover. After you have it all lined up, you need to trace around the cover. Cut it out after you finish tracing.

Line up your paper with the cover. You might have some extra paper around the edge. I dealt with that after I glued the paper to the cover. So, glue the paper down first. Then open it up and use either scissors or a craft knife to cut away the extra.

After you have your paper glued down and fitted you can start adding your embellishments. I kept mine somewhat simple. I added a pink ribbon down the side to accentuate the pink flowers on my paper. Then I took chipboard numbers and glued them to the top of the ribbon. Isn't it much better than how it started out? I'm pretty proud!

Show me yours in a comment or leave some love :) My project is also listed over at My Frugal Family! If you're looking for some great crafts but don't have a ton of dinero to spend-- go check it out!!
