Sensation Sunday: Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous

Good afternoon fellow crafters!
It's been a couple of weeks since I did a Sensation Sunday post. But I have a special one for you this week!
Way back when I was getting to know the craft blog-o-sphere I encountered this amazing blog of Linda's. If any of you have also been to Craftaholics Anonymous you know what I'm talking about. She's amazing! In my own opinion, she's even more amazing because she now does everything craft-astic with not one but two kids in tow. I took a chanceon asking her if she'd do an interview with me and she said yes!

Here is what she had to say:

Q:  Do you remember how old you were when you first started crafting?

A: I'm not really sure how old I was, but I was pretty young when my mom let me loose on her sewing machine to "sew" paper!

Q: Do you remember your first project? What was it?

A: I don't know if it was my first project, but when I was 8, I was in a sewing 4-H club. I sewed a little dress with matching top.

Q: Do you have a favorite type of crafting?

A: Hmmm that's tough! Honestly I love all types of crafts- sewing, scrapbooking, quilting, mod podge, etc.As long as I can create, I'm a happy girl!

Q: What is your number one piece of advice to new crafters?
A: If it doesn't turn out perfect, that's ok! Some of my best crafts have resulted from crafts gone wrong. For example: my t-shirt pom poms that I made recently were not what I had originally planned. I had ordered ribbon to make Valentine pom poms with, but I bought the wrong width of ribbon. I was very flustered and disappointed because I had really wanted to make pom poms with the 40+ yards of ribbon I had bought. After my ribbon pom pom was a failure, I happened to look over and see some t-shirts I was taking to the thrift store and realized they were the exact colors of the ribbon I bought. I then got the idea to try and upcycle the t-shirts into pom poms and it worked! And those pom poms have been my most popular project to date. So even if your projects don't turn out perfect, they may inspire you to make something even better!

Q: How do you manage your crafting time/ me time now that you are a mom of two?

A: Great question! I am continually working on balancing everything, especially with a new baby. I'm still trying to figure it out! But one thing that has helped me a lot is to prioritize what I need to get done each day, set daily goals, and then hope for the best! :)

Isn't it cool to get an inside look at a master crafter? I love her advice about how to craft with two kids. Definitely something that I need to work on in the future! I hope that everyone heads on over to her site and takes some time to explore all of her fabulous projects. Below are some of my favorites:

She even has amazing guest posters. Look at this awesome bow holder tutorial!

Sensation Sunday: Lolly

One of the very first blogs that I discovered, as I was lying in my hospital bed, was Lolly. Some of you might already know her. If you don't, let me introduce her. This is Lolly:

My Photo

She has amazing projects like these:

BirdsNests

Inspired_2011_2

AlteredCheesebox
That used to be a cheese box, can you even tell? Amazing!

The list could go on and on about her amazing skills. But I think it's a way better idea if you were to go over to her site and check it out for yourself... especially since she's having a giveaway that ends soon! Now, when you see her site, you have to know that there is another reason I love this crazy crafter- she is in serious LOVE with teal! Next to a combination of yellow and gray, my favorite colors are teal, turquoise, and green. The majority of her projects are teal, as is her page!

Let me know what you think of Ms. Lolly and don't forget to show her some love while you're there!

Have a blessed day,

Sensation Sunday- A look each week at sensational blogs

I find so many wonderfully talented bloggers out there each day as I search. I feel like I should be sharing these amazing crafters/bloggers with you as well. So, like many others I'm going to designate at least one post a week to this purpose alone. I'm not sure if I will stick with this name or even this day (I know most do something like a Feature Friday) but we'll see how it goes. Who knows, maybe you need a bit of inspiration at the beginning of a new week?

On with the fun, here is my feature this week: IROCKSOWHAT
I was introduced to Jess through another blog because of this post.
If one of your resolutions this year is to lose weight or be healtheir (seriously, who out there has not made a resolution that is very similar to those?) The title of that particular post is "Stop Being Fat". Jess didn't write this as an insult to people but as a point that she listened to herself.

Since Feb '10, she has lost over 50 lbs... with out exercising...

Now I have your attention don't I?

She looked like this:

and now looks like this:

I do believe I will be listening to her advice. If you think maybe it was just the clothes, she posted before and after pictures of herself, in her underwear... and I don't mean long johns. She is completely and totally out there about how she did it and how she looks. I will definitely be taking a page out of her book since I have 20 more pounds I want to lose... or if you believe my Wii fit 19.6.... but who's counting ;)

Go check out Jess' page to see what her advice is as well as to see her adorable little boy Wyatt!

Jess, make sure you grab my newest button for being featured!!

Have a blessed day,
